Behind the pseudonym picturetom ® hides the author and photographer Thomas Schmidt.
A creative spirit
In the past Thomas Schmidt (picturetom) was active in media projects for more than 20 years. Since his youth he has been seriously engaged in demanding photography and later took on commissions for many large magazines, such as Gruner and Jahr, Spiegel Verlag, Axel Springer Verlag and the Holtzbrinck Group – especially in the areas of business and portrait photography.
Black and white photography as a credo
At the same time he had numerous exhibitions of his artistically ambitious works. His love is for classical black-and-white photography (Fine Art Photography).
From 1995 he was responsible for the management of images and new media as a manager in various companies. Already in the nineties he developed Business Picture, one of the first online picture agencies in Germany.
medicalpicture ®
In 2001, he developed medicalpicture ®, one of the best-known special image agencies for medicine and science in Europe. He was the founder and creative mind behind medicalpicture GmbH, which he left in 2009.
He is an appointed member of the DGPh (German Society for Photography).
Independent Photography
Independent Photography by picturetom refers to the creation and expression of the respective photograph, created in accordance with the photographer’s creative vision as an artist. Independent Photography stands in contrast to commercial and advertising photography.
